FAQs

I’ve never talked to anyone. I’m used to handling things on my own. Is psychotherapy for me?

Psychotherapy is for anyone who wants to gain a greater understanding of the underlying reasons for their own behavior in order to do things differently. Insight oriented psychotherapy offers long-lasting change in the way you see yourself in the world so you can live a happier, more satisfying life. This includes feeling able to tackle any problems or challenges you are facing. People who ask for help know when they need it and have the courage to reach out. Everyone needs help at times.

Why shouldn’t I just take medication?

Medication can be effective in providing symptom relief but it does not address the underlying issues that led to the symptoms. Psychotherapy will uncover the reasons behind your symptoms and work to alleviate them. Sometimes medication is needed in conjunction with counseling.

How does it work? What do I have to do in sessions?

Because each person has different issues and goals for counseling, treatment will be different depending on the individual. I tailor my therapeutic approach to your specific needs.

How long will it take?

Everyone’s circumstances are unique to them and the length of treatment varies depending on your goals, your desire for personal development, your commitment, and the factors that are driving you to seek counseling in the first place.
